One of the reasons I chose to paint this image is the counterpoint of the pale pink sky with the gorgeous aquas of the water below it. However, as often happens with a painting, part of it decided it was the star, and in this case it is the ‘Dancing Tree’ of its title. It is just on sunset, very late in the afternoon when there is the slightest hint of colour change in the sky.
I also love the faintest hint of the island far out at sea, almost entirely hidden by the clouds. This of course sparks my interest in mystery and hidden things.
