I am finding it interesting as I write the stories about my landscape paintings, that I keep writing about the same thing. It seems that light is a constant theme, from the way it falls on water, is reflected from surface to surface, to how it back-lights a row of pine trees. I don’t think I realised how much its presence has crept its way into my work, until this moment.
And of course this work is no exception! Its all about the extraordinary way the light here shines from without the cave the viewer is inside and the gorgeous reflections on the water.
This is work also filled with paradox. If you look closely you will see a pregnant woman stands sentry at the left hand side of the cave’s entrance. There are many emerging figures on the light cave wall which almost appears as an interior landscape, like a tromp l’oeil wall.
