This painting is similar to Southern Hills I , however a little time has passed and the mood has changed. I am focusing more on the distant hills here and some dark and ominous clouds are flowing in . What caught my attention in this scene was the way the sunlight was still shining on the distant hills whilst you could feel the dark clouds threatening and looming in from the right.
This creates an air of that stillness before the storm. The world is waiting, the birds are still and silent and I can still smell the late Autumn grasses in the air.
