This is a small work which sits beautifully against deep or light coloured walls and looks particularly stunning, against deep eggplant or mocha colours. It suits white walls as well because it has the range of dark colours within it which make it stand out against the lighter tones.
At first glance you may think it is completely abstract, however it does have a story. ‘The Wait’ shows us that stage of a journey, a refugees journey in this case, where uncertainty is the state of being. We see figures, some hidden in the shadows, lined up, waiting patiently as they look to the thin blue line of freedom and safety, far in the distance. Before they get there, there is a rocky chasm to navigate and unsure waters to cross.
